And Now the Rest of the Story

Part I: The Unlikely Worship Leader

Alex & GuitarAbout 4 weeks ago the children’s ministry director at my church, Morning Star, emailed asking for volunteers to lead worship in the children’s ministry. Several people responded and said yes they would help, one of whom was a 9 year old boy with a heart for worship music named Alex who had been learning the guitar. Everyone thought it was nice of him but who would have thought a 9 year old would be interested in leading worship. He made it clear he meant business when he submitted his set list to the Children’s minister and she booked him a time to give it a try. I just happened to be working that weekend and got to see him do his thing, and I must say he did a fantastic job! I thought it was great that at 9 years old he was willing to share his gift of music for the Uplifting of Jesus Christ’s Kingdom Through Worship.

Part II: Wow God

Alex at Mozingo MusicOn Friday February 27th, I was on duty for my company Mozingo Music at the Lincoln Brewster Concert & Joy FM Birthday Bash. That night Yamaha Corporation, Roland Corporation, and Mozingo Music had teamed up to give away a Yamaha APX700 Acoustic/Electric guitar & case, a Boss Chorus pedal hand signed by Lincoln Brewster, & a free months worth of lessons to the winner of the “Air Guitar Competition”. At intermission Greg and Sandy called me onto the stage to make my little speech. I ended with a statement prayer that the giveaway products would hopefully go to someone willing & able to use them in the Uplifting of Jesus Christ’s Kingdom Through Worship.  I had no way of knowing who would win, if that prayer would even be answered, and besides it was mere “chance” who would play the best air guitar that night out of 1500+ people. Right? “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory”, I Corinthians 2:7 KJV.

4 random people were chosen, & as they made their way to the stage I recognized a 9 year old boy from my church named Alex. As I begin to see this unfold I could hear Gods voice speaking to me in a crowd of hundreds & hundreds, “give and it shall be given unto you.”  I thought, ‘What’s the chance of Alex winning the guitar & pedal? What’s the chance that the prayer I just stated would be answered in front of 1500+ people who don’t even know the whole story? BUT, there is no chance where God is involved and his mighty hand performed a miracle in front of the entire crowd, they just didn’t know it, and it’s my job to tell it. Alex had a very old nylon string guitar that was bought at auction & he needed a new one. He had worked very hard to learn & use his new found talent for the Uplifting of Jesus Christ’s Kingdom Through Worship. He even made enough money on a nursing home gig singing worship songs for shut-ins to buy his Father and himself 2 tickets to a Christian Rock concert on a Friday night where in front of the whole church God taught a silent sermon once again through a little boy with a willing heart. Simply stated God said to his church once again,” Give your gifts in worship to me and I will multiply them.”

Alex with Guitar and PedalCongratulations on your new guitar & pedal Alex, may God Bless you and keep you, may his face shine upon you, and give you peace.

Conclusion: The Question.

What’s your gift? How can you use it for the Uplifting of Jesus Christ’s Kingdom? How will God Bless your efforts? Matthew 6:33 says, But, seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Hallelujah!
