Annual Mozingo Marching Percussion Competition Rules

  • ELIGIBILITY: Any high school drumline. All members of the drumline must be in compliance with all state activities association rules.
  • PERFORMANCE: Top 3 winners, from previous year, will play last in their class. All other performance times will be based on postmarked/paid entry fee and form.
  • INSTRUMENTATION: Any acoustic or electronic percussion is allowed. One electrical cord will be provided in the center of the sideline. All groups are responsible for providing their own instruments and any other electrical accessories.
  • TIME LIMITS: 4 to 9 minute performance time limit for Open and A Class. 3 to 8 minute performance time limit for Class B. There is a 2 minute, non-evaluated, warm up period allowed before each group performs.
  • GENERAL: Drill may be used to enhance performances, but is not mandatory or evaluated. Directors or drum majors may conduct the ensemble.
  • PENALTIES: Overtime: .1 point for every second.
  • ADJUDICATION: All performances will be judged on a build-up basis, with judges appraising musical analysis and general effect. Directors will receive a compact disc with comments and a DVD of their performance. Compliance with the competition guidelines will be monitored by Mozingo Music or their appointed representative. Assessment of any penalty is the responsibility of Mozingo Music and any decision made regarding assessment is at their sole discretion.

Deadline: Friday, August 22nd.
Price: $15 until Aug. 22nd, $20 after Aug. 22nd.
